About Me

Hi, my name is Janice, and I like to “flirt” with flowers! I am an honours graduate of the Algonquin College Florist Programme and have set up my floral design business in my home. When I retired from the health care profession, I felt it was time to do something that I truly love, working with flowers!

My particular interest is in weddings, partly because I am an incurable romantic and because I enjoy meeting with the brides and helping to create that perfect atmosphere for their very special day! I like the fact that, generally, there is the luxury of some time to plan and perfect things in advance of that momentous day! I also enjoy doing flowers for dinner parties, retirement dinners, anniversaries, etc.

I am often asked if I have “Wedding Packages”. I am unable to understand how anyone can offer such an entity. The prices for your wedding will depend upon many things, such as: the type of flowers you choose, as some flowers are more expensive than others; the number and size of bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and other arrangements you require. I do offer full service in that I will deliver to the church, bride’s home, and will decorate the reception area. I will also move flowers from the church to the reception and there is a modest charge for this service. The most important part of this is that we will sit down together and get to know each other a little so we can work with what you have budgeted for and come up with the flowers you want at the price you can afford. As I work out of my home, my overhead expenses are less than those of a flower shop, so I can keep my prices down.

As a practical nurse and graduate of the Palliative Care Programme, I have a special sensitivity for those who are losing or have lost a loved one. I will help in choosing flowers that evoke pleasant memories of your loved one. Although the trend seems to be not to send flowers to a funeral, I truly believe that flowers are comforting at those times as a reminder of the beautiful things in our lives and the fact that even death is not an end of life but the beginning of another life in a better place.

The Butterfly is my trademark and you will find it in every design I create. It may be hiding, but it will always be there. To me the butterfly is a symbol of ethereal beauty and happy beginnings, besides, like me, butterflies are often found “Flirting with Flowers”.
